As an executive brand consultant Christoph Hack is always on the move: Coaching companies on how to develop their brand, holding seminars and giving talks on branding strategies his life wouldn’t be imaginable without constant travel. With the sky being his second home Christoph has gathered extensive travel experience throughout the years thinking of travel not as a necessity but as a way of life. We have talked to Christoph about his very own experiences as a frequent traveling brand consultant:
I love the sky. For me it´s always a good time to relax or come up with new inspirations, especially on long-distance flights.
Flights that are on time make me happy.
A travel tooth brush, tooth paste, deodorant, contact lenses and liquids for it, comb, moisturizer and clippers, that´s it.
Once I had a flight from Amsterdam to Alesund in Norway for a business meeting. After a long working day, we were already approaching Alesund Airport at 10 pm. In my mind I was already in bed at the hotel when the pilot announced we couldn’t land because of fog. We had to fly to Trondheim. We arrived at 10.45 pm in Trondheim. My business meeting was scheduled for 8 am the next morning with an important group of people. I tried to find out how to travel from Trondheim to Alesund. SAS told me the next flight was at 10.30 am the next day. So I was in trouble. Then I met a lady who had the same problem. We decided to take a rental car, but before we bought some cans of Red Bull. At 11.15 we headed to the last rental car station at Trondheim Airport that was still open.
The lady at the rental car station informed us that she had no car left. So we had a problem and discussed what to do. Then we tried to call a taxi. We asked a taxi driver and he was a little bit surprised. From Trondheim to Alesund it´s about 450 km. Then we negotiated a price but he wanted cash. I went back to airport but the ATM was running out of money. When I came back the taxi driver was gone… The waiting game started again. Another taxi driver arrived. We agreed on 9.500 NOK and we could pay by credit card. Our trip started at 11.45 pm and we arrived in Alesund at 6.45 am. It was a wonderful trip through Norway in July. At 7.00 am I had a shower at the hotel and was right on time for the meeting.
The more you travel with less, the more fun it is.
My home airport in Nuremberg. Flying from there is really relaxed. When I have a flight leaving at 7.00 am I get up at 5.40, have a shower and a coffee. It takes me 15 minutes to get to the airport. The security check usually takes 10 minutes and then I’ll board the plane at around 6.30. And after a business trip I also love to come home.

My ChackPack Air to stay fresh.
A pen, a small book and my iPhone.
For me it´s not a question of survival, I enjoy the flights, because they give me time to sleep, to work or just to relax.
Always strive to travel hand luggage only. One bag is always best. I would say 98% of my flights are hand luggage only. You save time and gain life quality.
By accident 🙂 It came with the job and I love to experience the world.
From Punta Arenas to Union Glacier to climb Mount Vinson.
Personal meetings and workshops are important in the consultancy business. It´s about human beings.
